The body has the ability to heal itself. Following illness, stress, injury or disease, it is in a state of “imbalance” and vital body systems can be blocked, preventing the body from functioning optimally. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body’s natural balance and facilitate healing. For each person, the application and the effect of the therapy are unique. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances by working on these points, If any points of the energy pathways are blocked, the reflexology therapist can release these blockages allowing the energy to flow freely again, which aims to restore balance to the body and kickstart your body's natural healing powers.
Whilst the art of reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, this therapy was not introduced to the West until Dr William Fitzgerald, developed ‘Zone therapy’.
He believed that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone.
In the 1930s, Eunice Ingham further developed this zone theory into what is known as reflexology. Her opinion was that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.
The process of Hopi Ear Candling involves a facial and a soothing sinus pressure point massage first. This will help open clogged sinuses. The candle is then inserted just inside the ear canal to create a seal. The Hopi candle is then lit and then creates Heat & Suction. The gentle suction draws the impurities from the ear. This suction is often referred to as the ‘Chimney’ effect. A fire crackling sound may be heard and possibly some gentle popping. The rising air gently massages the eardrum and helps to regulate ear pressure. The candle is then removed and the ear and surrounding area is then massaged. The treatment is then repeated on the other ear. A gentle Head massage concludes this relaxing treatment.

The burning action infuses the herbs and essential oils into a vapour, which is drawn into the auditory canal. This performs a massaging function as well as softening any impurities. Gentle heat from the candle stimulates blood circulation, increases the cleansing circulation of lymph from the lymphatic system, intensifies the immune system and stimulates energy points and reflex zones.
Light from the flame penetrates the auditory canal, delivering a high energy spectral frequency to important energy points. The cleansing fire carries away negative vibrations, harmonising and balancing energy.
The candle then acts like a chimney, drawing away from the vapour and any impurities from within the ear. This, in turn, regulates the pressure system within the ear and the head, making the treatment suitable for many conditions.
Biosun Ear Candles are safe and natural. They are made to the traditional Hopi Indian recipe, including pure beeswax, honey extracts and linen. These are combined with powdered Indian medicinal herbs such as St Johns Wort - a restorative tonic for the nervous system. Sage - stimulates the lymph, increases circulation and Chamomile - anti-inflammatory and gentle anti-spasmodic sedative. All well known for their healing properties. Biosun has also obtained the prestigious CE mark (93/42-EEC) for medical devices in Europe, an extraordinary level of certification that no other ear candle in the world has.
Ancient Greeks were among the first to use the technique. They referred to it as 'coning' and used it specifically for cleansing, healing and purifying on a spiritual basis.
The Greeks used pottery clay to make coned shaped instruments, and carved a double helix inside to create a downward spiral energy flow for smoke and heated air once the candle was lit. This carried burning herbs down into the ear canal, helping to cleanse and draw out debris and impurities.
The native American Indian tribe, the Hopis ( meaning 'peaceful place' ) then adopted and adapted their own version of ear candling and this is how the name Hopi Ear Candles came about.
The Hopis-who were known for their medicinal knowledge used ear candling in rituals and healing ceremonies, and developed a specific candle formula to enhance the treatment holistic and therapeutic benefits. The main ingredients they used in their candles included cotton, beeswax, honey, sage, chamomile and st john's wort-a formula still used in modern ear candle treatments today.
Although it has been used for thousands of years around the world, ear candling has only recently been introduced by the NHS for use alongside conventional medical treatments such as grommets, antibiotics and ear syringing. Now used as a complementary therapy designed to help treat conditions associated with ear, nose and throat.
Although anyone can be treated with Hopi Ear Candles there are cases where Ear Candling should not be used. These are:

Sports massage is not only for sporty people but for everybody who feel tensions. Office workers can benefit as much as professional athletes. Sitting down all day increases pressure on the neck and shoulders, and a sports massage can also help to release those tensions.
Pre-Event Massage - can be considered from two days to just two minutes before an event.
This will help stimulate the flow of blood and nutrients to the working muscles, with increased circulation resulting in a reduced risk of injury. A pre-event massage has the ability of stretching the soft tissues, which in turn increases joint mobility for physical activity. and allows the client to relax prior to activity, and focus on their performance. A pre-event massage can form part of the vitally important warm-up prior to physical exertion.
Post-Event Massage - can be done immediately after activity and is most effective if done within 24 hours post event.
Whenever athletes exercise heavily, their muscles suffer microtraumas. Small amounts of swelling occur in the muscle because of tiny tears. Post-event sports massage helps reduce the swelling caused by microtraumas; loosens tired, stiff muscles; helps maintain flexibility; promotes blood flow to the muscle to remove lactic acid and waste build-up; and reduces cramping. In addition, post-event massage helps speed the athlete's recovery time and alleviates pulls, strains, and soreness.
Body Maintenance
Regular sports massage helps to keep the body healthy and can prevent musculoskeletal injuries and problems by detecting muscle fatigue, postural imbalances, inflexibility and strains and sprains.
